Abrar Ahmed

Managing Director

Abrar Ahmed is the Managing Director at African General Infrastructure (AGI) Holdings and a globally respected trade finance leader with over 30 years of experience across sub-Saharan Africa and other emerging markets. His career spans senior roles in commercial and development banks, where he has led trade finance functions and supported cross-border trade and economic development at scale.

He is widely recognized as a subject-matter expert in structured trade finance, correspondent banking, and risk mitigation. Abrar has a strong track record in building and strengthening correspondent banking relationships through extensive country engagements, technical advisory, practitioner training, and the delivery of practical, market-aligned trade finance solutions.

Abrar is an active member of the UK International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and a regular contributor to industry thought leadership. He has authored technical articles, participated in professional forums, and contributed to multiple ICC-endorsed trade finance publications, helping shape global best practices and professional standards.

In addition to his executive responsibilities, Abrar manages one of the world’s largest trade finance professional communities on LinkedIn, with over 51,000 members worldwide. Through this platform, he promotes knowledge sharing, professional development, and global collaboration within the trade finance ecosystem.

Arup V. Kumar Patra

Finance Director

V. Arup Kumar Patra serves as Finance Director at African General Infrastructure (AGI) Holdings, bringing over 30 years of post-qualification experience as a Chartered Accountant. He has built a distinguished career driving financial transformation across Africa, the Middle East, and India, with deep expertise in strategic financial management, fundraising, governance, and ERP implementation. His track record spans multiple sectors including manufacturing, telecom, construction, FMCG, and distribution.

Throughout his career, Arup has demonstrated exceptional capability in financial leadership and business turnarounds. Most recently, as Group Finance Controller at Golden Oil Industries Ltd. in Nigeria, he directed group-wide finance operations, led successful restructuring initiatives, and raised low-cost funding while implementing robust ERP systems. Previously, as CFO at SPG Nigeria Group, he spearheaded a 200% revenue growth through strategic financial road-mapping and restructuring efforts.

His core competencies encompass financial strategy and planning, IFRS and global reporting, treasury management, and working capital optimization. Arup excels in P&L leadership, risk and compliance management, corporate governance, and M&A support. He is highly proficient in ERP systems including SAP FICO, Oracle, MS Dynamics, QuickBooks, and Tally, with a strong focus on leveraging technology to enhance financial processes and reporting.

Arup holds the Chartered Accountant designation from ICAI India (1993) and is fluent in English, Hindi, and Odia. His strategic vision, combined with hands-on execution capabilities and proven success in building financial resilience, positions him as a valuable asset to AGI Holdings' leadership team.

Gregoire Vazquez

Vice President - Europe Operations
Grains & Agri Product Team Lead

Grégoire Vazquez is a seasoned commodities trading and risk management professional with over two decades of experience across grains, agri-products, energy, and derivatives markets in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. His career spans leading global trading houses and financial institutions, where he has built a strong reputation for physical and paper trading, hedging strategies, and consistent P&L generation in complex market environments.

As Vice President – Europe Operations at African General Infrastructure (AGI) Holdings, Grégoire leads AGI’s European commercial and trading activities, strengthening market access, counterparty relationships, and strategic execution across regional hubs. He plays a key role in aligning European operations with AGI’s broader infrastructure, trade, and supply-chain ambitions.

In his role as Grains & Agri Product Team Lead, he oversees trading strategy, market risk, and portfolio optimization across key agricultural commodities, including grains and oilseeds. Leveraging deep expertise in derivatives, arbitrage, and risk management, he drives disciplined trading performance while ensuring strong governance and capital protection.

Grégoire is known for his progression from middle-office and risk management roles into senior trading leadership, bringing a rare blend of analytical rigor, operational control, and commercial instinct. His global network and hands-on leadership style position him as a trusted leader in building scalable, resilient, and profitable agri-commodity platforms for AGI Holdings across Europe and beyond.

Mahesh Thadani

Vice President - Middle East & Asia Operations
Finance Team Lead

Mahesh Thadani, ACCA, MSc., is a seasoned finance and advisory leader, Mahesh Thadani, ACCA, MSc, brings over 15 years of cross-border experience spanning audit, accounting advisory, trade finance, treasury, and digital finance transformation across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. His background includes leadership roles in multinational trading, energy, logistics, and infrastructure-driven organizations, with deep expertise in IFRS, structured trade finance, risk management, and financial governance.

As Vice President – Middle East & Asia Operations at African General Infrastructure (AGI) Holdings, Mahesh provides strategic financial and operational leadership across regional portfolios. He partners closely with executive leadership to drive sustainable growth, strengthen governance frameworks, and align financial strategy with AGI’s long-term infrastructure and investment objectives across emerging and frontier markets.

In his concurrent role as Finance Team Lead at AGI Holdings, he oversees group finance operations, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, tax compliance, and multi-currency reporting. He is known for building high-performing finance teams, instituting robust internal controls, and leveraging ERP and digital finance platforms to enhance transparency, efficiency, and decision-making at scale.

Mahesh is particularly recognized for bridging finance with operations—translating complex financial data into actionable business insights. His leadership style combines analytical rigor, technological innovation, and stakeholder collaboration, positioning him as a trusted advisor in driving operational excellence, financial resilience, and value creation across diverse regional market.

Jules Quersin

Vice President - West Africa Operations
Derivates Trader and Senior Business Developer Soft Commodities

Jules Quersin is a senior soft-commodities professional with deep expertise in global cocoa markets, combining physical trading, derivatives management, and large-scale supply-chain development across Africa, Europe, and Asia. He has a strong track record of building and scaling origin operations, managing complex trading books, and driving profitable growth in highly competitive and regulated commodity environments.

As Vice President – West Africa Operations at African General Infrastructure (AGI) Holdings, Jules leads regional strategy and execution across key West African markets. He is responsible for strengthening origin presence, deepening relationships with regulators, exporters, and local partners, and expanding AGI’s footprint across strategic agricultural and infrastructure-linked value chains in the region.

In his role as Derivatives Trader and Senior Business Developer – Soft Commodities, Jules oversees market risk management, hedging strategies, and derivatives execution to optimize P&L and protect margin performance. He also drives business development initiatives, identifying new sourcing opportunities, and building scalable commercial models across priority soft-commodity corridors.

Known for his analytical rigor and hands-on leadership style, Jules brings a unique blend of financial engineering, operational execution, and market intelligence. His experience across major trading hubs and cocoa origins positions him as a key driver of sustainable growth.

Bobby Ian

Vice President - Europe Operations
Global Logistics Team Lead

Bobby Ian is a seasoned maritime and global trade professional with nearly 20 years of experience across shipping operations, chartering, trading, and risk management. His career spans niche brokerages and major energy players, giving him a deep, end-to-end understanding of commercial shipping, fleet optimization, and market dynamics across gas, clean petroleum products, and chemical segments.

As Vice President – Logistics Operations at African General Infrastructure (AGI) Holdings, Ian leads the company’s global logistics strategy, overseeing shipping performance, cost efficiency, and operational resilience across international trade corridors. He is responsible for aligning logistics execution with AGI’s broader infrastructure and commodities strategy, ensuring reliable, scalable, and value-driven transport solutions.

In his role as Global Logistics Team Lead, he drives chartering strategy across spot, term, and in/out structures, fleet management, and performance analytics. He brings strong expertise in sustainability and regulatory frameworks, including EU ETS, FuelEU, and CII, alongside technology-driven optimization using tools such as IMOS, VPS, and Power BI to enhance transparency and decision-making.

Known for his commercially focused and data-led leadership style, His ability to bridge commercial, operational, and sustainability priorities positions him as a key leader in building efficient, future-ready global logistics platforms for AGI Holdings.
